From Page 9 and another kid quit,’’ continued Morrison. ‘I wasn’t really thinking ‘team title’ at the beginning of the season, with only 11 boys and many of them new to the sport and no experience. Aaron and Tom (Yeager) are really the only two kids who came to us from the YMCA feeder program with major experience. All the other boys learned strictly through our high school program. ‘That’s a credit to these boys and all the hard work they’ve put in this year. They’ve won the District 9 title. It would be an incredible ending if they could pull off a regional title as well. But, it will take a Herculean effort on everyone’s part to do it. Championship or not, I just hope everyone swims well. That’s all we can do.” Morrison noted that Westmont, Brookville and Central Cambria were strong teams last year, and Westmont and Brookville are still young and very strong again this year. Other swimmers to watch in the AA boys’ competition are Westm ont’s Jordan Grados (returning champion in the 50 free and 100 fly), Nicolas Valdivia of Lewistown (PIAA state bronze medalist in the 200 free), Ligonier Valley’s Nathan Horell (50 free and 100 fly or 100 free) and Westmont’s relay teams, especially the 200 and 400 free relays. Guelich wins regional diving meet STATE COLLEGE ~— Calvin Guelich captured the boys’ Class AA diving championship at the District 6-9 regional meet held last Satur day at the State College High School Natatorium. Guelich finished first with a winning point total of 290.35. Freshman Shane Sones was second with 253.05 points. Both Guelich and Sones will compete in the state diving competi tion at Penn State’s McCoy Natatorium March 9, Amanda McElfresh was the top finisher for the Lady Bisons in the girls’ AAA competition. She placed seventh with 202.25 points.
