The Panthers ran out to a 19-8 first quarter lead and were able to keep that bulge pretty much throughout the final three periods. John Tompkins had 26 points to lead the North Penn offense, Phil Boinske and Dave Thompson added 14 and 11 points respectively. Boinske also had 10 rebounds. Chad Pequignot hadeight assists and 10 rebounds. Mike Vargeson led the Indians with 21 points, Tremaine Harer added 14.Mansfield posted a big 62-59 home win over Liberty. The Tigers got out to a commanding 46-23 very early in the fourth quarter before the Mountaineers came storming back to make the outcome close. Dana Greer topped a foursome of Mansfield double figure scorers with 18 points. C.J. Palmer was next with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Jeremy Knowl-ton finished with 12 points and JefTHerbsthad 11. Sam Aguirre’s13 points were tops for Liberty. Matt Holcomb and Bucky Edler added 10 each.Galeton remained undefeated in second half NTL West play, topping visiting Williamson 83-44. The Tigers outscored Williamson 35*6 in the first quarter and 20-4 in the third stanza to improve to 17-4 overall on the season. Brian Beck led Galeton with 18 points, Pad Callahan had14 and David Grant 10. Adam Sekellick and Jason Chapel each scored 10 for the Warriors. BeckBOYSalso had 16 rebounds for Galeton, Jason Butler dished out eight assists.Friday, Feb. 18North Penn won at Williamson 83-34 as five Panthers scored in double figures. Mike Wilson topped the Panther assault with 14 points, Chad Pequignot added 13, Phil Boinske had 12 and John Tompkins and David Thompson netted 10 each. The visitors outscored Williamson 46-8 over the middle two periods to break the game open. Jim Hart led Warrior scorers with 15 points. Hart and Pequignot both hit three 3-pointers.Liberty got past CowanesqueValley 60-54 at Liberty Friday. The game was close throughout with the hosts able to hang onto small leads at the end of each quarter. Sam Aguirre scored 24 Mountaineer points to lead all scorers. Pat Haddow and Matt Holcomb added 14 and 11 points respectively to the Liberty total. Mike Vargeson’s 22 points topped CV, Tremaine Harer followedwith 16.Elkland rallied in the second half to down visiting Mansfield 62*50. Hie Tigers led by five, 30-25 at the half, but the hosts took a 40-36 lead at the end of three quarters, then stretched their bulge to 12 by the final buszer. Adam Miller canned 24 Elkland points to lead all scorers. James Dow added 18 for the Rams, including eight of 10 free throws. C.J. Palmer and Jeff Herbst scored 16 apiece to lead Mansfield.
