Chiefs Slate ExhibitionsSYRACUSE — The Syracuse Chiefs will play an ambitious 26-pme spring training schedule against strong AAA clubs beginning March 16.Although only four different clubs are included. Chiefs General Manager. Donald Labbruzzo's announcement reveals that 11 games are with Denver, 4 with San Diego, 7 with Little Rock and 4 with Buffalo.Twelve of the 13 games at Lakeland, Florida, the Chiefs home base, will be played at Henley Field — the home of the Detroit Tigers — with only one game at Tigertown — the home for all Detroit minor league clubs.The eleven games with the Denver Bears should prove interesting since the Tigers dropped Denver to come into Syracuse. Denver is now affiliated with the strong Milwaukee Braves and the competition should be keen.San Diego, the AAA club _ of Cincinnati, is the defending Pacific Coast League champions, while Little Rock is now the Philadelphia Phillies top farm club.Interest eould reach a peak in the Grapefruit League when the Chiefs tangle with Buffalo who will have a blend of 1962 Chiefs with many returning veteran players.Bob Swift’s rival managers in; the exhibition games will be Kerby Farrell with Buffalo, Frank Lue-ehesi with Little Rock, Don Heffner with San Diego and Jack Tiche with Denver.Trips will be short. The games with Denver at Bartow are only 14 miles from Lakeland, with San Diego at Tampa only 33 miles, with Little Rock at Dade Cl tv only 28 miles and with Buffalo at Dunedin 60 miles.
