March JO, the sports department of The Hawk-Eye learned yesterday.The game will have no connection whatsoever with the independent tournament, the final tilt between the two f:ve mentioned above which has not yet been played under the Muscatine promoter's promotion, but will be directly under the sponsorship of the management of both teams.Question of Sponsorship The manager of the local team wants the question of sponsorship of the March 10 game clearlv underand the promoter gave each team a fifty-dollar check as a guarantee of part of their due finance- the money they had coming for their participation in the meet until the final con-eachtest. Unfortunately, each manager had the forethought to send the check to the bank for collection. They Darned that the promoter had stopped payment on the check.Further DevelopmentsFurther developments in the situation followed. Before this time, the promoter had set several dates for the final tourney game but each time had postponed the match. His latest date setting was done for Friday night, when the game was scheduled to be played. But a letter came to Carter Wales from the promoter two days before the Friday night date.Doan of the postponed Friday game.Neither had he received any cash slt; f~tlernent from Doan. Plans were laid, and action followed.Ar-cording to reports reaching here,Westra and his cohorts of the Iowa City All-Star team started for Muscatine promptly. It seems, Wales informs us, that Doan hau a Lincoln car which could under certain legal procedure be attached for unpaid debts for debts the* two team managers eon-' sidered Doan's obligations.But the Iowa City lads w**r(* unfortunate. They got into Muscatine, so Wales was informed, one half hour after Doan nad motored out of the city.
