The Eagles took a one point lead in the opening period when Lloyd Gregory hit forRobert Short, the Minneapolis trucking system tycoon and Democratic Party leader from Minneapolis who lured Williamsa free throw, but John Hanks dumped in two points to put the Bulldogs ahead with 6:48 to go.Lincoln quickly built up a 10-5 lead behind the fine shooting of Clyde Jackson. Jackson hit with four out of five free throws and Maurice Hogues connected for six points.Hitchcock came from behind and narrowed the score to 20-15 with Hanks getting eight points in the first period. Then it was like a lag game in the second period with the score being tied twice with long shots by Louis Delesandri.With 1:18 to go in the first half the Bulldogs trailed 35-30 but Hanks’and Leon Norris cut the lead of the Eagles to two points.In the second half it was Hanks on the offense and Delesandri with his great defensive efforts on the floor trying to keep the Eagles from doinfl too much damace.Lincoln, but out of the four attempts only one shot went through and Delesandri made the scoreboard. 58*55.Gregory's last shot gave the Eagles a 58-55 lead, but Hunks came through with a close - up shot to make it 58-57. The last effort of Hanks didn’t pay off. John Hanks hit for 26 points and Delesandri had 18 points.
