PLAN TOURNEY FOR GIRL FIVESRichards Is Arranging Meet for Early in MarchPlana are being made by Hugh Richards, athletic director of the Spencer Y. M. C. A. classes nowbeing held in the Lincoln boys’ club here, to hold a girls’ basketball tournament in the high school gymnasium at Spencer sometime during the month of March.Arrangements with teams are now being carried on and it is hoped to have at least eight teams entered. The number may be larger. For the past few weeks the Spencer girls have been playing Monday evenings and a large class has turned out. Several good teams have been formed and from these the all-star squad will be selected to play in the tourney against the girls’ quintets from other towns. ( Inquiries as to the meet are being received from a wide area, several Minnesota teams being interested. One team, a fast-stepping squad from Elmore, Minn., is anxious to enter at once, Richards states.Basketball GirlsGirls playing the cage game at the Lincoln club are:Aline Dagner, Alpharetta McCurdy, Docla Blount, Gladys and Irene Perry, Dorothy Morisky, Doris Erickson, Elsa Kjellberg.Ardyce Hanson, Bertha Groth, Edith Johnson, Thelma Goyette, Gladys Anderson, Marcella Kill-mar, Bertha Kress, Leona Beckley, Fern Rasmussen.Anna Wadsager, Nellie Richards, Linnea Dagner, Helen Higgins, Lucy Kosta, Barbara Zuberbier and Anna Helm.From this group the players on the Spencer girls’ team to compete in the coming tournament will be Mr. I selected, ind Era.Scharnberg, Dayton Thiel, Mr. and Mrs. John Fell, Jr., and Harry Ketelsen.
