Hockey Canada SetsVictory Date At 1970By ALEXANDER FARRELLOTTAWA (CP) — Hockey Canada, a non-profit corporation, was formally established here Thursday night for the purpose of developing a national team to beat the Russians and bring the world hockey title back to this country.Health Minister John Munro, announcing the decision after a meeting with prominent business and sport executives, said the corporation will come into operation as of today.Mr. Munro and Max Bell, wealthy Calgary industrialist who was chosen president of Hockey Canada, indicated the corporation will seek the best Canadian players it can get for their team—regardless of how other authorities define their professional or amateur status.Ian Sinclair, president of the Canadian Pacific Railway, agreed to head a financial committee and organize a fund-rais-ing drive this fall.Hockey Canada's target date for victory is next year, when tile world championship tournament will be held in this country and the national team will have, it is hoped, more players of professional calibre.Canada’s chances in the 1969 world tournament next month in Sweden, not rated highly, rest with the purely amateur national team run by the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association.“Our rules about amateurs and professionals are our own,” Mr. Bell said.
