Bv Roberta TavsThe Canyon Cougarettes stole the District 29 AA title from the Judson Rockets Tuesday night in the Judson gym by a score of 63-45.The Rockets led at the close of the first quarter with a five point edge, after the Cougarettes lost Debra Bleck, guard, to an injured ankle. The Canyon girls continuedto fight and passed theRockets at halftime, 29-25.The third quarter saw the Cougarettes hustling andmaintaining an eight-pointlead over the Judson girls.During the final quarter of play, interceptions, good passes. and free shots contributed to the Red Wave's outburst of 23 points during this quarter In the final minutes of play, the Canyon girls kept possession of the ball to complete the game and capturethe district title.Canyon had three girls in double figures, led by SandraSahm and Janice Wuest with23 points each. Sherry Kargercontributed 17. These forwards benefited from the charity line by sinking 6ttf r of their free shots. Playing a good defensive game were guards Linda Hierholzer, Peggy West.
