A New South Penn Scoring Record Is EstablishedTom Cross, lanky center of the Waynesboro-Mont Alto Tornado, stands nonchalantly at the foul line watching his :S79th point of the South Penn Conference season drop through the hoop at Shippensburg. Thirty-five seconds before making this point he tied the record of 278 made by Fred. Evans, Hershey, Cross has 411 points for the entire season. Shown in the photograph at Cross’ right is Referee Keffer; G. Smith (35) Shippensburg guard and Joe Caron (8) Waynesboro forward, backs to the camera; and facing the lens, Dick Angle (41) Shippensburg center, who fouled Cross. The history-making photograph was taken by Richard Sanders, Waynesboro-Mont Alt© senior and apprentice photographer for the Record Herald* Sanders was assaulted outside the Shippensburg gymnasium after the game and suffered cut head.
