Bays' AthleticExtension of the hoys club idea, based mi competitive athletic*, to nil sections of the city was proposed yr' vrday by Cal Farley, one of the founders of Boys Ranch and the Maverick Club, in a talk to the Amarillo Kiwanis Club.Representatives ol most lt;•{ the city’s civic and service clubs, welfare organizations, churches and lodces were guests at the session.Mr. Farley s proposal is based on the theory that if you eive a boy p. ball to chase he will stay out of trouble.The plan, which is backed bv !most of the city’s clubs and by manv individual bov workers, en-V *visions the establishment of a bovs athletic club in every section of the city, with competitive iame .schedules in football, basketball, soft ball and other sports, to provide vear-around activitv. Clubs*-• no?and welfare organizations are asked to .sponsor such clubs to the extent of hiring a part-time coach for each neighborhood team of boys.The plan already is working ona modified scale. A basketballleague now is in effect; and its sponsors are eager to extend the plan and make a year-round proposition.There will be a meeting Thursday night, in Parlor R of the Amarillo Hotel where all tho: e interested in the proposal may ask questions and attempt to work out an organization.The program, featuring Mr. Far-• lev's talk, was under the direction of the Kiwanis Club’s Underprivileged Child Committee, with it . chairman, Harold (Jallarneau. presiding. Mr. Gallarneau said the 1 Kiwanis Club will sponsor one of the teams.
