Kate Smith Loses Wardrobe in FireSweet Singer of SongJr Suffers Disaster at Hot SpringsHOT SPRINGS, Ark,—(/pj— Radio's Kate Smith came over the mountain to Hoi Springs Monday, without her wardrobe and secluded rest which went up in the smoke of a hotel fir-12 miles up in the Ouaehitas.About all she saved were the clothes she wore and snapshots of the fire which razed the Mountain Valley Springs hut el where she and her manager, Ted Collins, and his wife arrived Sunday night for a two weeks' rest.Thu historic fifty -room frame structure at the Mountain Vaiicy mineral springs was a complete loss.The dozen other guests in the hotel escaped safely buU like Miss Smith and her party, must of Ihnn lost all vf their personal effects.The radio star and her party had an apartment in a bungalow-like structure adjoining the hotel proper, but the fire starting in the attic spread so rapidly they iiuu no time to take out iheir belongings.Miss Smith viewed the situation philosophically and calmly wen I about taking snapshots of tlm fire and assisting other guests.After it was all over, she and her party came to a hotel here.
