Mr. S. has made this a constant study for years, and is certain that such a channel will so effectually drai^ that large scope of country in ten years that moat of it will be available land the richest in the ofrunty. He has talked to men who ttaow all about steam ditchers, and |s had bids for the work at from twelye to twenty cents per yard. He proposes having wood cut on all the nearest islands so that it can be easily boated from four different points along the line. Every land-owner wilt be asked to sign a petition, and also^giwring to pay his part of thebenefit.
