‘Action Group’ FormedCALGARY (CP) - The Canadian role in international hockey is to be reviewed this year by a new committee of Hockey Canada, committee chairman Joe Kryczka announced Friday; The recently formed three-man group “replaces a larger committee which proved unwieldy for quick, firm action.Kryczka, also president of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association,/ said decisions should be made'this year and possibly in time for an exhibition serieswith Russian and other European teams in September. _In a prepared statement, he said there has been a confusion of voices regarding negotiations with the Europeans and particularly the Russians.”“A number of proposals have been made through Hockey Canada and the CAHA to European officials in the past 14 months, all of which are well known to officers of the IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation).“These proposals bear little resemblance to the rumor and speculation which have been given much currency in the media.”Kryczka said if a round-robin exhibition series is arranged for this fall, the participating countries would send their bestteams.Such a series would have no effect on Canada’s participation in world championship or Olympic hockey, he said, which would have to be determined at the time of those competitions.“All Canadian hockey leaders are firmly united in this view, have to date co-operated fully and have indicated they are determined to stand by the policy of .eligibility for players adopted by Canada in January, 1970.” The decision of the three-man committee, which also includes president Charles Hay of Hockey Canada and Lou Lefaive, chief of the federal fitness and sports directorate, woujd be discussed with the IIHF in the next few months, Kryczka said.PEMBINADODGE.CHRYSLERAppointment
