Viking wrestlers comeBy John Barry Gazette StaffKENOSHA—One word could sum up the performance of Janesville Parker at the Kenosha Bradford Sectional Saturdav afternoon.Frustrating.Frustrating, because out of 11 qualifiers at the sectional meet, the Vikings failed to advance anyone to the state meet.Frustrating, because a controversial referee’s decision in Adam Griffin’s 125 pound semi-final match cost the Vikings a sure wrestler in the state meet.Frustrating, in the final sense, because coach Ron Cramer felthis team would come ready to wrestle. Janesville Craig, which qualified seven individuals to the sectional meet, was shut out as well.Cramer was not in the best mood after the meet.There is not really a lot to say about what happened today,’’ Cramer said “We certainly did not expect to be shut out from the state meet and we wouldn’t have been if Griffin would not have gotten such a incredibly bad call made against him. Maybe some of our kids were looking ahead a match or two instead of concentrating on the one at hand. I really don't have any answers.'—Ron CramerKenosha Bradford and powerful Stoughton battled down to the wire, before Bradford prevailed with the title by outlasting Stoughton, 139-132. Both teams advanced five wrestlers to the state meet, although Stoughton came away with four individual champions while Bradford, along with Burlington, had three each.Four area wrestlers earned return trips to the UW Field Housefor a chance to compete in next week’s state meet.At 125 pounds, Burlington’s Scott Koenen improved his record to 30-2-1 with a 7-0 win over Dave Sauceda of Kenosha Bradford. In the 130 pound class, Stoughton junior Brett Stubblefield pinned all three of his opponents on the day to improve to 28-0 on the year and advance to the state for the second time in three years.
