Miss Barnden won her sixth title in the singles by tenacity and an ability to fight back when in an apparently hopeless position. In two of her matches she retrieved the position from a number of match points. One amazing return saved the whole situation at one stage, after which Miss Barnden played with magnificent consistency to win six games in a row. She has already gained one cup, quite a feat a* the title has to be won three times in succession, and she has now registered her name on the Madigan Cup that she is entitled to hold for one year. In addition to this, partnered by Mr C. Schwartz (Angaston) she won the mixed doubles final also. Over aseries °f the i*ce®*S?have come her way because in 1947, partnered by Mrs L.
