Wc have a lot of laughs as well as the‘exercise!Ron Lconhardt has been on the go this past month and now that he has gotten over his jet —lag he has given me this report. At the board meeting following the annual Unifarm Convention in Edmonton Ron was elected to'the board. He spent two days in Regina where he attended the Western Agricultural Conference meeting and later spent four days in Ottawa at the Canadian Federation of Agriculture meeting. Ron was a part of the Alberta delegation to attend these two meetings. The Alberta M.P. joined the group for breakfast one morning and • also for the closing banquet. A . couple days were spent in Edmonton at Grain Transportation and Feed Grain Marketing meetings. Ron was guest speaker at the annual meeting of the, Camrose Chamber of Commerce recently. As Ron sasy. it’s a good thing he hasn’t anything else to do, he's been away so much.The February meeting of the Verdant Valley and Dorcas Women’s Institute was held at the Verdant Valley School last Wednesday. Nine members andand Miss Roberta McBeth. A visit to the Nursing Home was planned for February 21 at 1:30 p.m. Some of the members will bring cupcakes and the raisin bread and cheese will xbc purchased. The Women of Uniform will assist us to serve. tea. Anyone who would like to join us that afternoon , is most welcome. This group will donate a door prize for District 5 conference which will be held in Calgary March 7-9. A wedding reception fot May was'turned down because of seeding. , The Christmas letter from Boscoc Home in Regina was read. (I had forgotten it for last meeting.) A donation of 525.00 will be sent to them to further their work with wayward youngsters. Linda Skiehar, a volunteer for Special Olympics, then showed a film which was narrated by the Honorary Chairman. Lanny McDonald. The Drumheller Association for Special Olympics had 25 athletes participating in swimming, bowling and gym. Howard McKee has donated three nights of lessons and horses for the group. Colgate-Palmolive will pay money for any of their labels odTIfcued during the year.LabpK may be dropped off at Radio Station Q91. Following the film it was decided to have a bake sale later in March and donate the pro-cccdsto the local group for their special Olympics. A layette is being made up by (he members and this will be donated .to a needy family. Those who have not yet contributed, please do so at the next meeting. The teaThompson. Lunch was served by the hostess, Mrs. H. Wade, assisted by Mrs. A. Brown and Mrs. F. Shadlock.The Verdant Valley Range Patrol held a meeting the same evening in the other room of the school. They also had a film shown by the local R.C.M.P, They joined the ladies for coffee and goodies.The Verdant Valley Snipcttcs hosted a Sock Hop on Saturday, February 12. There was a good turn out of young people in attendance and the music was loud. Several of the adults were in the other room playing ping pong and games.- Coffee and non-fattening foods were served at the end of the evening.The students from the Verdant Valley School toured Votcc and Q91 in Drumheller on Monday. February I 1 and then had lunch at the House of Burgers before going bowling.After more thon 20 years in journalism including five years as an enerav soecialist with the Coloorv Herald.
