Woodland jayvees defeat Winters varsity, 68 to 59Woodland high school’s junior varsity basketball team blitzed the Winters high varsity, 68 to 59, last night in the winners gym. Thevisiting sophomores easily handled the Wolf soph reserves, 81 to 88.Coach Dave Stahlhut’s jayvees had four players in double figures headed by Jim Wright with 17, Joe Lucero 13, Cliff Young 12 and Chris Fotheringham 11. The outcome reversed an earlier loss to the same team.Grant Cooper continued his exceptional scoring spurt for Winters with six field goals and 12 free throws for 24 points and sophomore Phil Snow showed a sharp shooting eye with nine field goals and one free throw for 19 points.
