River Falls' Kuselik too much for Altoona skatersRIVER FALLS — Kevin Kuselik recorded his third hat trick of the season in leading River Falls to a 7-3 Northwest Hockey Conference win over Altoona Monday night.Altoona grabbed an early lead as John Jaskowski scored 40 seconds into the game. But the Wildcats rallied with four straight goals, including three in a row by Kuselik.He scored to end the first period, tallied on a backhander 16 seconds into the second period and scored again off Jay Herum’s shot from the point.Steve Thoreson scored twice for River Falls, 3-7 in league and 6-11 overall. Senior Mitch Fanning scored his first varsity goal while Shane Hemenway had a goal and two assists. One of Hemenway’s goals came short-handed while he was flying through the air after being tripped.Mike Peterson and Jay Johnson added the other Altoona goals as the Rails dropped to 2-6 and 5-11.A key for River Falls was its penalty-killing unit which staved off six of seven disadvantages. “They did a super job,” said Wildcat Coach Tom Klein.Goalie Greg Vincent had seven saves, including only one in each of the final two periods for River Falls.
