Police On GuardAs Trail LosesMOSCOW lt;CP — In a fight-torn hockey game before a sell-*out crowd, Moscow Dynamos defeated Trail Smoke Eaters S*2 Sunday while Russian police stood ready for any eventuality.A minor fight started after only two minutes of play and at the 15-ramute mark a full-scale brawl broke out with every player on the ice except for the goalies throwing punches.IronicSlly, overhead was a large blue * and - white sign on which was written in English: Greetings to the sportsmen of Canada.The game was in harsh contrast to the comradery on the ice before it started. There was hand-shaking all around as the Smoke Eaters were- presented with flowers by the captain of the Dynamq?.Hie crowd of 12,000 in theMoscow Sports Palace reacted to the brawling with whistles and hoots of derision so loud that women in the audience were covering their ears with their hands.Dynamos took a 3-0 lead in the first two periods while both Trail goals were scored in the third period after a dressing-room pep talk.Vyeheslav Starshicov opened scoring for Russia , at 14:20 of the first period and Dynamo* went ahead 2-0 little more than a minute later on a goal by Vladimir Ursinov, -The second period was scoreless until the final minutes. Evgeny Mayorov found the mark for Dynamos at 18:14 to put ! them ahead 3-0.Smoke Eaters came out strong in the third period and Harold Jones finally broke the scoring barrier with a goal at 4:33. Dave Rusneli got anotherat 11:22 but that was the lasttime the Canadians were able to penetrate the Soviet defence.Substitute goalie Claude Cyr was in the net for Trail. He made seven stops in the firstfive .minutes of play as Dyrta- tmos started fast.“I guess we were up against a little better team-,” said Jack Roxburgh, secretary of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association, after the contest.“It was a hard, rugged match but their was no real, rough dirty work, Roxburgh said.“The Russians have come along way and are able to give and take bodychecks just as we do.
