Feb. ll.-The entire police force has formed an athletic club and joined the Young Men’s Christian Association. The club was formed under direction of Physicial Instructor Howard. ChiefGallagher, when seen to-day, said:“ My rren have formed this club purely for the benefit and pleasure they will derive from it, and not because of any rules.”It Is also announced that a basketball team of policemen has been formed, and after a little more practice will issue challenges.It is hinted that the policemen of Montclair, having had the New York squad held up to them as an awful example, have banded together to repel the insidious encroachments of embonpoint.The letter carriers are also talking of forming an athletic club.
