O. “Hi” Haven, formerly of Greenville who has relatives and friends here: “One young man of whom much is expected is a three initial giant named O. E. O. Haven and they call him “Hi. He was secured fromPueblo. Colo., of the Western league.”Quoting a Pueblo. Colo., sport writer, the paper sa-3: “Haven is a native of Texas and at present is employed as a clerk by the Big Lake Oil Company at Tcxon.“A big, powerful fellow with two years’ experience, Haven may be expected to win a great many ball games for the San Antonio club next season. He possesses a fast ball which Is most difficult to follow, especially in night games.“Haven, when he joined the Pueblo club used a side-arm delivery, but last season abandoned It in favor of an over-hand delivery, which enabled him to throw with greaterspeed and also gave him much better control.One of the best recommendations that he has is an expression from John McGraw’, who dickered for his services in the spring of 1929, but gave up his quest for the young Texas when he learned that he had previously agreed to terms with the HMeblo club. McGraw pronounced Haven a sterling prospect.“Haven won 13 games and last 16 for Pueblo in 1929, but of course, he had a last place club behind him. Last season in the fact of the fact that he changed his style of delivery after season got under way, he won 11 games and lost 10 forPueblo. He allowed 3 91 earned run*41a game, ranking fifteenth in the league in this particular department.uIn joining San Antonio, Haven will team up with two former Pueblo athletes. Bill Hargrove and Cy Cottey.“Haven is married. He is 24 years of age, and is a graduate of a Texas college.
