The Dauphin tier 2 Bantams trounced theRegina Spurs 11-2 to win the Yorkton Bantam A tournament on theweekend.The Bantam Kings, with strong goaltending from Chad Cobbe, got three goals from Billy Fraser and two each from Brian Gilroy and Paul Anderson. Singles went to Daniel Remillard, Allan Secord, Daryl Vipond and Richard Oswald.The line of P’raser, Gilroy and Oswald picked up 16 points in the game.Three of the King goals were scored on the powerplay as the Spurs received 12 minor penalties to Dauphin’s two.Scoring for Regina were K. McIntyre and J. Barnett. ,The Kings needed an overtime goal from Dale McQuarrie to beat the Russell Rams and advance into the final. McQuarrie opened the scoring with Phraser getting the other.The Rams, who tied the game in the third period, got goals from Ron Kreshewski and Bruce Coulter.McQuarrie scored at the six minute mark into overtime. The Kings fired seven shots at the Ram net in the extra period and blistered the goalie with 37 in regulation play.The Kings, playing on the edge of elimination throughout the tournament, got a goal from Gilroy with one-secondremaining to beat the Melville Millionaires 4-3 in the first game.Gilroy hammered home a pass from Oswald, who scored twice in the game.
