You couldn’t blame Sandusky basketball coach Gary Reynolds for wanting to take the air out of the roundball this weekend. However, the young mentor is fully aware of the fact his squad faces two opponents who love to run and shoot. Add to this the fact both clubs utilize the press with great success, the Blue Streaks face tall orders in consecutive home games.THE BIG BLUE (3-11) entertain Lorain Admiral King Friday night and host Toledo DeVilbiss Saturday. The Admirals have chalked up 13 consecutive victories after losing the first three games of the season and DeVilbiss stands 11-4 ontheyear. s- ..Admiral King (10-2) is just one game behind Buckeye leader Mansfield (11-1) with two games remaining in conference play. Mansfield is at Findlay Friday and the Tygers could run into trouble with the pesky Trojans. DeVilbiss is presently involved in a three-way tie with Toledo Central and Tdledo Macomber for the top spot in the Red Vision of the Toledo City League.‘‘We have our work cut out for us. There is no doubt about that. We just have to keep both teams from doing what they like to do and that is run. We will be under heavy pressure right from the start since both clubs like to press,” Reynolds said.REYNOLDS NOTED 5-10 sophomore Walt Farris has earned the right to get a starting assignment. Farris averaged 22 points for the reserves and also was the too rebounder. ‘‘Walt can shoot the ball\ *.■*’v.and we plan on using him at the forward since he does rebound,” Reynolds stated. Duwayne Swopes is expected to operate at a guard position.Reynolds also disclosed 6-6 junior Randy Richmond has rejoined the squad after a long bout with bronchial problems, but 6-4 junior Stan Johnson wrenched his knee and is a questionable performer.Admiral King is a super team, according to Reynolds. “They can shoot and run and they also play excellent defense. I feel they are the best team in the conference at this point and we have to be able to stay away from the turnovers if we are to stay with them.”’ The Admirals have the leading scorer in the Buckeye in 6-3 senior Tom Harris who is averaging more than 22 points a game. However, the Admirals have overall strength and depth to spare. King hosted the Streaks earlier in the year and rolled to a 73-46 conquest.DeVILBISS’ LATEST win was an 82-81*decision over Toledo Libbey in which the Tigers blew a 17-point lead.’‘They have three seniors and two sophomores starting and'one sophomore is an outstanding player, Reynolds noted. Terry Crosby, 6-2, is the leading scorer and was also a regular a year ago when the Streaks invaded DeVilbiss.Joining Crosby on the front line are senior George Young (6-2) and sophomore Farley Bell (6-4). Bell is a strong rebouR der and is spelled by 6-4 senior Jim Murray. In the backcourt, the Tigers go with seniors John Morton (5-10) and Mike Murphy (5-8).* *
