Both men are attending the 11th Winter Olympic Games. The Canadian JIHF director said he was not at liberty to say who would make up Canada's team personnel, only that they would be highly-rated players and that the same team Would play a return game in Russia.Page said negotiations to have Canada resume play at the top level of international hockey started between him and Tarasov last year in Europe. A follow-up letter in November failed to produce any results, but the two got together again in January when Tarasov’s Russian army team took part in a world cup hockey tournament in Colorado.Page said Tarasov agreed to play in open hockey at that time and for the Canadian IIHF delegate to proceed with plans for the exhibition games.Page said he had the Russian coach sign a proposed agreement, and then I started to play their game.” Rather thanagree immediately to the proposal, Page said he would takeh e . document back to the CAHA for consideration. He said Gordon Juckes, executive-director of the CAHA, then sent a telegram to Tarasov before his return to Russia expressing the CAHA’s interest and desire to continue negotiations.Nothing was heard again, said Page, until he met another Russian hockey coach, Arkady Tchernychev,v in the lobby of a Sapporo hotel this week.“He was the same interpreter we had in Europe last year,” said Page, “and I got the impression he was chiding us for not following up on the proposals.“This really started to burn me,” said Page. “He said the Russians were still favorable toward playing in open hockey.”Canada withdrew from world hockey competition in 1969 following a dispute with the IIHF over the use of reinstated professionals.School Skaters Invading ArenaElementary students will take over the Winnipeg Arena Tuesday. The occasion is the 55th annual Winnipeg schools skating races.
