CARMEL, ILLINOISWarriors Fall To SIC»64-57The WVC Warriors were cau.ght from behind with four minutes remaining as Southeastern Illinois College evened their season record with the War-riors with a 64-57 win.Neither team could find the range in the early stages of the contest. SIC drew first blood, but at the end of four minutes, both teams had registered only two .points each. Action picked up somewhat midway through the first half and WVC had moved into the lead, 13-12. The lead changed hands five times in the last ten minutes of the first half and the score was deadlocked on five occas-ions. A basket of SIC’s Vaughn put the Falcons in front at thehalf 24-23.The Warriors threatened to blow it open in the first four minutes of the second half as they cashed in on two SIC floor mistakes and an Intercepted pass to establish a 34-28 advantage four minutes into the se-cond half. The Falcons slow, ly undermined the WVC lead and with 4:30 remaining, went ahead 47-46. The lead changed three times in the next 45 seconds until a free throw by Jerry Scott tied it up at 49-49. With 3:30 left to play. The Warriorslost Terry Fox on fouls, after he had tossed in 16 points. SIC moved into a three point lead with 2:30 left but a three point play by 6-7 Jerry Nuckols cut the deficit to one. Two bask-ets by Vaughn increased the le-ad to four with 35 seconds to play and WVC fouled while try-ing to gain possession of the ball. SIC took advantage of two warrior fouls and dropped in four bonus shots to establi. sh the final score.Terry Fox tossed in eight field goals to lead the Warrior scoring with 16 points before fouling out. Jerry Scott was the only other Warrior in double figures with 12.
