None of the smaller schools have stepped to the fore tront as a cage power and it will take an exceptional night for anyone of them to dump the major powers.per sectional are Forham (Annaregional i. Every season a small school, not always as powerful as the Cobden Appleknockers of last season, comes along and springs a major upset. These upsets are a combination of exceptional ability, good benches, hustle and desire.Patoka fans will long remember their day of fame in knocking off Centralia in the 1944 regional. Patoka had an exceptional team that season and it was a down” year at Centralia. It marked the last time Centralia failed to win a regional.'Odin's great day came against Salem wdien the smaller Eagles slipped past the Wildcats.Nashville fans still remember that powerful club of a decade ago which grabbed a fourth in state play. It was a solid squad which had all the tools to reach Champaign and did.In tournaments affecting our area this year, if the top rated clubs would win their tournaments, the Carbondale sectional would find Meridian, Sparta, Centralia and Marion clashing. Rated second best by the coaches are Ann-Jonesboro, Chester, Salem and Carbondale.Expected to reach the Harrisburg sectional will be Mt. Vernon, Cave-in-Rock, Benton and Harrisburg. In the No. 2 slots are Fairfield, Metropolis. Johnston City and McLeansboro.The Oiney Sectional could have Effingham, Lawrenceville, Highland and Paris, with Clay City, Olney, Greenville and Charleston as possibles.The Wood River Sectional shows Belleville. White Hall. Gillespie and Collinsville rated best with East St. Louis. Jer-sevville. The Bulldogs entertain the opponents at Harrisburg after the game with milk or soft drink and the two clubs get together in the dressing room immediately after the game.Centralia retaliated last night and there were as many purple-shirted Bulldogs in the CTHS dressing room as Orphan players. All the boys were standing around and grinning.They almost acted like they had a good time and enjoyed themselves during the night.Wouldn't it be nice if every game was friendly and after the contest all had a chance to get acquainted?Long ComingTamaroa and Mulberry Grove recorded wins Friday and both were long coming.
