Minor Hockey Coach Gel* National AwardMany long hours of untiring effort paid off Friday evening for Jack Thom when he was presented with a national award from the Canadian Hockey Association, during the minor hockey night activities at the Memorial Rink. The award, a plaque is one of four nmde annually across the Dominion of Canada in recognition of work with youngsters in the field of hockey.In announcing the award. Mr. Logie Smellie, representing the CA.HA. said in pari.“He was selected because his devotion to the youngsters of our community who are the future leaders of our country. An award of this nature can well be appreciated by the citizens and also by the recipient. He, by his devotion has fostered hockey within this community to such an extent that presently there are some 90 boys receiving coachmg in the fundamentals ofthis our national game.“This young man has taken an active interest not only in the development of our future hockey players but also in fraternal and church activities; promoting the young of this community. I do not know’ of anyone more deserving of this award.Mr. Smell ie called upon Craig Loney, captain of the Pee Wee A team to make the presentation.
