COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.!(AP) — World hockey officials say the final, official schedule of events for the world tournament here will be released by the first of next week. The tournament will go as scheduled, said Robert LeBcl of Montreal, president oL the International Ice Hockey Federation, and Thayer Tutt of Colorado Springs, chairman of the organizing committee.LeBel said Monday he would like the East German team to compete but if they can't, we will go along with the tournament as planned. The tournament is set for Colorado Springs and Denver, Colo., March 7-18. The East German team has been denied a travel permit from the Allied Travel Office In West Berlin.W'e have read many stories where the Czechoslovakians and Russians are demanding achange of site, said LeBel and Tutt. This is an impossibility, not only because it takes at least a year to organize an event like this, but also because there is no real reason to makethe switch. We have written commitments from all the countries in doubt. We expect them to meetthese commitments.LeBel said he anticipated little change in the schedule and not too much opposition from Communist countries.Nineteen teams will compete if the East Germans obtain travel permits.Meanwhile, the Canadian Amateur Hockey Associationasked the Canadian government to protest officially the refusal to grant travel permits for the East Germans.Jack Roxburgh, of Simcoe, Ont., CAHA president, in a telegram to Prime Minister Diefen-baker requested the government to take a lead in this vital matter. The ban is part of the counteraction taken by NATO countries for the erection by East Ger-(many of the wall separating West and East Berlin.Roxburgh said in Simcoe the ban could ruin all international sports for years and years. The CAHA also appealed to the I1HF to take all possible steps” to ensure full representation at the tournament.
