THE STARS AND STRIPESPage 25Pathfinders Cop 4 CrownsBy DON SAUER Staff WriterFUERTH, Germany (SS) — Floyd Winter racked up his fourth straight pin in the 198-pound competition to win the individual Greco-Koman championship and help the 8th Inf Div romp to the team title as thefirst portion of the USAREUR wrestling tournament concluded here Wednesday evening.Winter was one of four Pathfinder Division champions, the others being 180*4-pounder Richard Wihlms, 125%-pounder ArlieHendon, and unopposed 105 pounder Ivan Olsen. The Pathfinders rolled up 62 points with the four titles, two runners-up, one third place and two fourth places.The No. 2 team was the host 4th Armd Div with 43 points inthis first-ever USAREUR Greco-Roman : competition. Wihlms had the loser in trouble several times, just barely missing a pin.The 8th Div’s Jeremy Speak not only had his perfect record spoiled in a 220-pound tussle with 32nd AADCOM’s Raymond Reed,but lost a very close, fiercely-contested match and the title.Speak nearly had takedowns on four occasions but each time Reed came down off the mat. Reed went ahead, 2-1, in the second period when Speak was penalized one point for passivity — not being aggressive enough. The chunkier Reed got a takedown at the buzzer as Speak was trying desperately to turn thetables.The 3rd Div’s James Homan outlisted Scott Schoen of the 8th Div in the heavyweight class as the latter seemed to run out of gas in the final stanza.
