Over and over they roiled, fighting fiercely and administering blows on face, neck and chest with all the strength they eould command, Finally they were separated. Each staggered to his feet and glared viciously around. Corhebt’a ire was up, and he made another rush at Maxwell, who countered neatly and jabbed the ex-cbampion in the jaw. Again they mixed it up at a lively pace. Corbett was badly winded and was getting much the worst of the argument when the night clerk and several guests in night clothes and pajamas grabbed him and prevented further hostilities. An hour later Corbett left the hotel in a cab, carrying with him a pair of beautiful black eyes and other marks of the battle.
