I jThe selections made for the Terre I Haute club the coming season are exceptionally good, and will no doubt I give good satisfaction, not only to the I stockholders, but to the public. The selections have been made with great care, and after thorough inquiry into each man’s record and habits. Some of them come highly recommended, while others have won their recommendations on the diamond here ini this city. Of course it may be neces- 1 sary after the season is over to make I some changes, as a ball player is like a race horse—comes out ahead one year and behind the next. But our citizens can feel assured that Terre Haute .willput as good a club in the field as any city in the Northwestern league. The players engaged thus far are: IMike C. Dorsey, Auburn, New York, catcher and second base; played I with Auburns, Albany and Akron, Ohio, clubs; 5 feet 10 inches high, weighs 175 pounds; a good catcher.J ames Donnely, pitcher and general player; played with Indianapolis alllast season except four weeks with I Terre Hautes. Donnely is from New Haven, and is a number one pitcher and player.Henry Murphy, pitcher and general player; pitched and played first base with Indianapolis last year; a good batter.I Tony Hellman, catcher; played with the Kentons, of Covington, Ky., last year; caught twenty-three consecutive games without an error; also a good batter.William McQuerry, first base; played with the Kentons; a number one player and fair batter; six feet one inch high, and weighs about 195 poundsAlbert Stump, first base and general player; a good batter; a home player and a good one.Ed Halbriter, pitcher and fielder; played with the Albany’s; last year commenced w’ith the O’Leary’s and played with the Awkwards until they merged into the Terre Haute I club. Ed was sick most of last season, but promises to show what ball playing is this season.Bart G. Grether, pitcher and general player; played with the East St. I Louis Nationals the first of last year, but afterwards he and Mappis formed the battery for the Marshall (111.)j club; he is a good batter.Charles Mappis, catcher; was with Grether. ^W.
