Kemp and Hearae won I their games Tuesday night. Each has an 8-2 record to lead the zone. Consol is in second place.The Cubs took the lead to stay with 4:59 left in the first half when they went ahead 25-23. The game had been tied eighttimes. After this the Cubs widened their lead to 10, 35-25 with slightly less than two minutes left in the half. But in the final minute of the half the Tigers came back to narrow the gap to two points at the end of the half, 37-35.Consolidated shot 48 per cent of their field goals in the half, but Brenham did better with 60. The Tigers hit 79 per cent from the free throw line while Brenham hit 65. Consol had 14 fouls called against them and Brenham had 9.Coming out of the dressing room the Cubs did the same thing they had before in the first half — widen their lead to 10 points. With 4 minutes left in the third quarter the score was 46-36 The Tigers narrowed it to five points with 1:44 left in the quarter, but the Cubs spurted ahead to 10 at the end of the period. 55-45.Several of Brenham’s starters got in foul trouble in the quarter. Bryan Tharp, Eddie Richardson, and Marvin Wilson all collected four fouls, but only Tharp finally fouled out.In the final period the Tigers were able to come within five with 3:58 remaining, but in trying to get the ball away from a Cub stall, the Tigers fouled David Schomburg four times and he added six free throwsto the Brenham lead.Glenn Pinnell led the Tigers in scoring with 24. He was followed by A. C. Clark with12, Billy Hoover with 8. Steve Brooks with 6, Jere Mills with 4, Mike Keese and Bobby i Wilkes with 2 each, and Gary Vannoy with 1.For Brenham, Roger Gaskamp scored 15, Eddie Richardson scored 14, Bill Nutt,13, Marvin Wilson. 9, David Schomburg, 8, and Bryan Tharp and Ronnie Parker, 5 eachBrenham hit 49 per cent of their field goals while Consol hit 40 From the free throw line the Tigers hit 72 per cent, Brenham hit 71. Richard Ryan, and Keith Morgan, fouled out.In overtime Consol went ahead with a field goal by Mark Logan, but Brenham tied it; again with two free throws at59-59.The Cubs then went ahead on a three point play 62-59. Logan closed the gap for the Tigers, 62-61, with 51 seconds left.The Tigers had a chance to tie it up and go ahead after a Brenham foul, but the free throw was missed and Brenham took the rebound. They stalled until with 3 seconds left, Consol was charged with an intentional foul and Brenham went ahead for the final score, 63-61
