Thomasboro at Flatville Sunday; Entertains Plumbers Monday.By BEET BERTJNE (Courier Sport* Editor)The Eastern IUinoL league race, which opened in May and which has continued on through the hot summer months, may well be decided this double holiday week-end although ita schedule is not destined to close until a week from Sunday.Thre.e teams—Champaign Plumbers, Flatville and Thomasboro — are tied for the lead at present with 11 victories and four defeats apiece while Seymour still holds a possibility of taking the title by being only a half game back, Seymour with 16 games already played must play only tv/ice while the three leaders each have three games left.Favor Local Team The Plumbers from all appearances should be favored to take the crown because of its three remaining contests only one is what might be called tough. That one is against Thomasboro on Labor day. Its other two opponents will be Leverett Sunday and the 106th Cavalry a week later, both games to be played on the Plumbers’ home grounds at Dixie park.Thomasboro has the hardest row to hoe. Sunday it will appear at Gifford to play Flatville and then the next day entertain the Plumbers. And as if those two games weren’t enough it must also play host to Seymour the following Sunday. In other words Thomasboro will clash with the three toughest foes possible to find in the league ; and should the Thomasboro lads ' come through this setup unscathed ! they would well deserve their title.Must Meet Sadorus Flatville. of course, has no easy program left either. Sunday it • plays Thomasboro on its Gifford diamond and the following Sabbath must travel to Royal, a tough nut to crack in any game. In between a game with Sadorus must be worked in although no definite date has been set for this battle. According to league rules though the game must be played on Sept 12 or before.Looking over the possibilities of the three leaders it might be stated that the one who wins its three remaining games will take the undisputed crown. This is because the three will plaj among themselves. Should they all lose one game-and Seymour win both its remaining battles there would be a four way tie for the championship although this is not likely to happen.
