SAYS BOB LEBELThe Show Goes On At Colorado Springsand their representatives have shown themselves to be goodsportsmen.”Asked about press reports that Russia, Czechoslovakia, Sweden and The Netherlands may pull out of the tournament if the East Germans cannot play, he said that no national association has given official notice that it intends to withdraw.He said there is no chance “at this late date” that thetournament will be shifted to Canada or West Germany. “That probably wouldn’t end the political complication anyway.”Earlier Wednesday Jack Roxburgh of Simcoe, Ont., president of the Canadian AmateurHockey Association said he has cabled Czechoslovakia hockey officials asking them to make If I I § f sure their team—one of theUnderdogs Lut Loose tr££r“n’p''“ *”MONTREAL (CP) - Robert LeBel, president of the International Ice Hockey Federation, said Wednesday the IIHF will do “everything in its power” to enable East Germany to compete in the world championships in March.He said that if he receives a formal complaint upon which he can act, and if the IIHF executive approves, the IIHF will appeal to the Allied travel office in Berlin to reverse its decision stopping the East Germans from going to the United States for the tournament.The championships are to be held in Colorado Springs, Colo., March 7-18 the EastGermans said Allied authoritiesin West Berlin have refused togive them the travel permits they need before they can apply for United States visas.The formal complaint may be on its way. In East Berlin Wednesday the East German Hockey Federation said it has cabled LeBel protesting against the decision of the Allied authorities and asking the IIHL to “support our rights.”LeBel said he has not yet received the cable.Have Right To PlayLeBel said “we want the East Germans in the tournament, not because we are afraid that other teams will pull out if they cannot come, but simply because they have a right to be there.
