Ilis many friends in this city are much interested in his box ing enterprises.On Monday night Dave Deshler defeated Kid Sullivan, of Washington, D. C., j in u fifteen round bout, and there was ( something doing from the start to the , end. Both hoys were anxious for the ( decision, and their speed was terrific. Deshler's showing was a revelation to | the crowd, as an. easy victory had been predicted for Sullivan-Deshlor had a faculty of smashing Sullivan in the ribs for a few seconds, and then his right would be whipped over with terrific force .and it invariably caught on the southerner's head.In the sixth round Sullivan went to the mat no less than four times from these whips to the jaw, and on his IflBt visit to the floor Moflit Flaherty, the referee, got the count up to eight before Sullivan arose. He realized then that he had a dangerous opponent and succeeded in stalling the remainder of the round.It was Deshler’s fight all the way through. He was exceptionally shifty on his feet and resisted Sullivan’s leadscontinually.
