} *x A; '• ’•I -*K •- ( ; rTho banquet tendered the State Orphan's Home high school football team, winner ot tho Navarro count/ championship and winner again,str the Waxahachio high school eleven in a postseason game, by Charles G, Jester at the Corsicana Y. M. C. A Thursday night at. 7:30 o’clock was featured by plenty of good eats, fine program and general good time for all who were present. The mooting was addressed by all members of the football team, Charles G. Jester, Ernest Cox. coach of the champions: Mayor Jess Eubank, Robert Calvert. Orlio Mimitrn, superintendent of the State Home and Paul Moore of the Gaily Sun. Tt was announced that the members of the team will be given gold footballs with the store of the Corsicana high school-State Home game engraved on them and also with the name of the individual player thereon. The members of the team will also be giv^u sweaters and letters, it was announced*Is the beginning of the program. Mr. Jester staled that the State Orphan’s Home football eleven was the only championship team which he had ever had. any dealings with or heard- of will only thirteen men on the squad. He stated it was intended that the banquets given the State Komlt;? team would become an annual affair.. The speaker said that the boys wore welcome to come to his nffie at any time and that he never was too busy to talk to or aid the bo vs of tho State-Home.Wiley IJIachohear, captain of the team, spoke 011 the subject, “Molding llie Line.” hie stated that no one man can hold :^e line but takes seven men and 1 of erred to the Waxahachio game when the State Home line held tlie heavy opponents on the one-foot line and staved, off defeat.The. mooting was favored by songs by the Stale Home quartette composed of Wiley Blaclcshear, Edgar Hudson. Margaret Dillard and Iva Watkins.Ernest Cox introduced the various members of the team and reviewed each man, his peeularities, good traiu and fillings.
