(thursion was bumped]Dutch Thurston, from the Pacific coast, has established a new record for the mile run, having made his distance on a 16-foot course in the short space of six rounds.Charlie Burns, the Cinclnnotl welterweight, was rihgt at his heels all thetime, slamming him whenever he could get within slugging distance. Thurston was unable to block the body punches of his opponent, and received severe punishment in the region of the heart and wind. In the final round Burns charged him, landing a volley of body blows at a terrific rate. ThursLon landed on Burns’ ribs and was smashed in the lace. Clinches followed and more punching on the face. Thurston rallied in the iifth, but Burns had him at his mercy, and was given the decision at the end of the sixth.
