W Va, (UP1) — West Virginia's “track athlete of the year” is Martinsburg’s Chris Fox, holder of the record for the two-mile run in the state track meet.Now a runner at the University of Virginia, the 6-foot. 123-pound Fox was the overwhelming choice for the honor in voting by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.He attracted 60 points to 38 for Carl Hatfield of Philippi, another distance runner and recipient of the award last year.At the Victory Awards Dinner in Morgantown next May, Fox will be given the Ray McCoy Award Paul Reed of St Marys, the Class AA high school sprint champion, placed third in the ballotingPlacing fourth was state record high jumper Ar-maray Campbell.
