SPORTS ——— ___ By Mickey WienerThe skillful Sinton Pirates whipped the Ingleslde Mustards, 64-34, last Friday nifht to keep up their winning streak, in the scheduled games.In the out-of-town games, Jimmy Thames paced the Pirates with 16 points, Ruiz and Pleasant shared with 12 points, Weir and McCoy with 7 apiece, Gomez with 6, and Caddel and Goynes with 2 apiece also.It was also a winning night for the R” team; plasterlr^ the Ingleside *'B” team 75-44, to break the “B“ team scoring record since Coach Goldman’s coaching time at the high school here. The old record was 73 points.Those making It possible for this fine game were Jerry Wil-EDITOR’S CORNE R -son with 27 points. Helping Wilson were De Leon with 19, Burton with 7, Green netting 6, McCov with 6, Waddell with 4 and Stewart, Weaver and Moss with 2 apiece.The next games found the Sinton teams doubling up again to win both games against Robs* town, played here Monday night.At the start of the game, it looked rather bad for the Pirates with the Robstown team leading 10-7 at the end of the first quarter; but that all changed with the end of the half finding the Pirates ahead with an 18-27 point lead. The Pirates finished the game winning again with a score of 49-31.Joe Caddel led the Pirates with 17 points. Helping contribute to the cause” were John Pleasant 13, Pat McCoy 9, Jimmy Thames 7 and George Ruiz with 3.In the *'B” team game it was the same story with the MB” team taking the Robstown B” team with a wide margin of points, 57-21.High point honors were shared by Charles Land and Walter Burton with 14 points apiece. Following were Wilson with 10, De Leon 8, Green 4. McCoy 4, Stewart 2 and Weaver 1. The B” team simply out-played the Robstown boys with much hustle and desire being shown, just as how the varsity demonstrates their skill and desire to play basketball.Another gam: will be played the next day, Tuesday, and will be In next week's column.
