WILDCATS TAKE BIG LEAD EARLY, CRUISE TO WIN OVER YELLOW JACKETS by Les Dixon StaFF WRITER WILLIAMSBURG - The Lynn Camp Wildcats are off to their best start in recent memory, thanks to a solid inside game combined with sega dose of perimeter shoot- Lynn Camp improved to 8-1 on the season after knocking down nine three-pointers, while finish ing the game hitting 29-of-50 shot attempts in a 76-47 win over Williamsburg. The Wildcats jumped out to a 16-2 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. “I thought we played well tonight,” Lynn Camp coach Dinky Phipps said. “I thought we were able to establish our post game and then it opened up our outside shots. We are playing really good right now. “The kids have bought into the system and I'm happy with the way they've been playing,” he added. “I tell you what, if we keep playing like this and keep improv ing, we will be a team to reckon with by the end of the season.” Jacob Bundy and Jayden Elliott did the damage from the outside with Bundy hitting four three pointers while leading the wa with 23 points. Elliott added five three-pointers and 15 points while Austyn Weddle, Austin Maier and Antonio Tepasano dominated in the paint. “I was really happy with the way Antonio, Maier and Austyn Weddle played,” Phipps said. “It moany panes things up. I thought the ball well joint and rebounded well, knew they'd come out in a zone, and we knew we needed to hit our shots,” he added. “We were able to do that.’ The game was never in doubt, as the Wildcats led 23-5 at the end of the first quarter and 44-18 at half time before heading into the fourth quarter with a 61-33 lead. “We were able to get out ahead and that was big,” Phipps said. “They are young, but Patrick (Robinson) is going to have a good team. Tanner Boggs led Williamsburg with 25 points while Dalton Ponder added 14.
