Appraisals Differ on Value Of Lawrence Rd. School LandThe North Syracuse School Board probably will wait until next month to decide how to go about selling the Lawrence Hoad School.The board received two appraisals on the property, but they differ on how much land it includes and hence the value of the property.District Clerk Ray Dohne said the board “kicked that around for a while’' in an executive session following Monday night’s school board meeting.The two appraisals differ by about 5,000 square feet and about $35,000, Dohne said.North Syracusan Charles Taylor’s appraisal listed the property at 1.68 acres and said the value is $200,000, or $2.73 a square foot.Ferrara Real Estate of Syracuse said the land includes 1.79 acres and placed the value at $235,000, or $2.98 a square foot.The property is at South Bay and Lawrence roads, and could become a prime spot on that commercial strip.Dohne said the two appraisals conflicted over the inclusion of a 13-by-260-foot piece of land that may be an easement.He said the school board has to research the easement before it can choose whether to put the land on the open market or ask for bids on it.The school board received $65,000 for the former district office at 305 S. Main St. when it went to the open market. Sealed bids brought a high bidder of only about $30,000.Dohne said the school building will probably be demolished. It’s 100 years old and most recently housed the district's alternative school.He said estimated cost of demolition is $5,000. M
