ELM HITIKES FIRSTB.B. CONTESTSTAR PLAYING OF XEVIXS WINS GAME FOR LOCALSEltejthtb'SCIsuthtiebna10The Oak Arrow basket ball team of the West-end Y. M. C. A. ofCleveland keep some 300 Elyria High fans guessing last evening at the local Y. as the E. H. S. five clashed with the Clevelanders. The final score was 39 to 41 in. favor of Elyria.It was perhaps the most exciting game Elyrians have e%'er seen and the second half resulted in a ‘ tie., which had to be played off. Nevins was the one star of the local aggregation, scoring over half of Ely-rlan’s points, Johns did good work at forward and Colgan, Ledyard and Sawyer made excellent showings.tlodson, of the Cleveland aggregation,; was a star and. shot 15 foul baskets for his team. The first halt ended to 36 in fa^or of the visitors and the odds seem to be in their favor, but Elyria showed new pep in tlie second period and succeeded in increasing their score .22 points white Cleveland was gaining 12 points. Thus tying the contest with 38 points a piece. It was agreed the -first team to secure two points of Cleveland repeated Nevins’ trick secured one point on a foul. Dodson of Cleveland repeated Ntvins trick. The ball came perilously near going through the visitors’ basket, but was secured by Colgan and a machine play by the local boys let Johns score the coveted two points.Many fouls featured the game and were a material aid m bringing up the scores, Nevins registering 11 and Dodson 15 points thereby. Considering that this was the first game of the season, the E. H.
