Without opening it he bellows boy,Anri so it comes about that the traditions -of boys in- the Light Sparta department carries on. This is boy No. ? tor Wc.v Mabrito, John-ny(Jaric$, whose typewriter Mabrito has been keeping hat since Jphn went Into the army eight; months ago. Is the father of a boy; George Wright, a Light sports writer, until a month ot so ago when he went to the Houston Press to join Clark Nealcrn, another Light. sports department. alumnus, has three boys. Nealon1 has a boy. Ed Elmendorf, Just back from the war and still regarded as a member of The Light sports department, is the proud pappy of two boys, The pride andjoy of your old Uncle Dudley js a boy.Not a ga* in the bunch.Now don't get us wrong; we all think girls are wonderful. wc doubt seriously sometimes whether the world could get along without them. But it so happens they don't happen In the sports department. That l-s, they haven’t happened in recent years. Of course, If you want to go away back to Gayle Talbot and Felix McKnlght, two portly graduates of this department now big-shooting their way through news-paperdom In other pm is, its different. Nothing but giris in their families—two each.We understand Mrs.. Mabrito would have liked the new addition to be a girl. Bui the husky bundle of male joy—nine pounds and four ounces—changed her mind, of course. She’s awfully proud of him. So's Wes. Sq's the whole Mabrito tribe. And, of course, that goes fur the sports department, where It doesn't count if it Isn't a boy.We're thinking of inviting Bing Crosby in sometime mid sneering at him.
