GIANTS STILL LEADING GOA LEAGUE TEAMSLOS ANGELES. — (WS) — The Nashville KIit3 Giants continued iheir winning ways behind the ef-l'ective pitching of Satchel Paige here last Sunday when they defeated the Pirrone All Stars in the first game of a double-header by a score of 5-1. The lanky Giant 1 wirier hooked up with Buck Nevvson, the man from South Carolina who was i regarded as the best pitcher in the (’oast League last season and won another game from him.Paige allowed only six safeties and struckout nine men. The only extra base blow from his delivery was a homer by Lilian!, home run king of the Pacific Coast League. This was offset when Stearnes, Sullies and Snow hit three out of four straight pitches out of the park for homers against Newson.All Stars came back strong in the second game of a doublehead-er last Sunday and won a slugfest from the Nashville Elite Giants In a score of 11-7 when they wiped out a lead grabbed by the Giants. Going into the fourth inning trailing by a 5-3 count the white team jumped on the offerings of Slow-time’ Young and pushed s runs across the plate in one inning.Willis came to the rescue but the damage had been done. The Giants had previously driven Lee Stine from the box with a barrage of base hits. The whole game was a batting test and Bankhead, Sut-tles and Snow hit for the circuit while Bell hit a double for the Giants.
