As no decision was given by any officials the bout could not be termed anything* but a draw In the matter of points.Although It was announced that the two men weighed In at the same weight, 164 pounds. Clarke looked to be at least ten pounds heavier than the white hoy. Williams did not appear to have the slightest chance against the much more showy muscled Fighting Ghost.” Before the second round elapsed, however. It was evident that the eastern lad possessed a world of skill and had a good punch In either hand. *Both men fought aggressively from the start to the final gong. At times each held back on tne defensive In an effort to take the other s measure, but there was no period In the mill that one or the other was not mixing things In lively fashion. Clark* received more punishment last night than he ever before received from a boxer here.In the Initial round Clarke got away with some of his vicious uppercuts and It appeared that eventually he would land one that would put Williams on the met. Williams soon found an effective block on the uppercuttlng, however, and seldom let the “Ghost'* land them even In the dose work Both tried hard with a sweeping swing for the Jaw, but was unable to land. Both men took punishment gamely and several times stood up for straight body and face exchanges. In the close boxing Williams outclassed Clarke, while in the open work Clarke appeared to do his best work. A knockout seemed certain until the final gong, when the men parted In a clinch. During the entire ten rounds there was not a lull In the proceed -IngsBecause of the small number of club members present. Jack Hanlon, manager for Williams refused to allow the bout to go for more than ten rounds. The bout was originally planned as a 16-round mill.
