Hockey ReportMonday night at the Jamaica Plain M.D.C. skating rink, the “Grumbles” faced off against the “Corner A.C.” in the second round of intramural hockey season. The final buzzer had the “Corner A.C.” skate off with a hard fought 7 to 6 win over a determined “Grumble” sextet. Defense man Ralph Roberts showed a Bobby Orr influence as he managed to account for two goals. Also in the scoring column for the “Crumbles” were Michael Kravchuk, Paul LeGrow, Jerry Freedman, and Kevin Caffey. The “Corner A.C,” displayed a balanced offensive sufficient to tip the scales with Kevin Kirrane, Gary Gruikshank, Michael Beaumont and Michael Karez finding the net. The game was not decided until the last two minutes when Michael Beaumont scored the game winner on a one on one rush. The “Grumbles” only opportunity to tie it up failed as RaJph Roberts barely missed a long slap shot in the final seconds of play.
