Va., Dec. 13.Take the coach, captain,high scoring forward?, and stareaI- ,yePybddefensive guard from any basketball team and you usually don’t have much left.Taking that much from a squad that last March won the National Invitation Intercollegiate tournament at MadisonSquare Garden leaves the succeeding representatives off that outfit on the astronomical long end of odds that they won’t repeat.But followers of West Virginia university are laughing up their sleeves because they know that anything can, and usually does, happen to their Mountaineers.From the squad which ankledinto the Garden last spring, last-considered, last-invited and seeded last in a powerful array of competition, only to walk out with everything hut Promoter Ned Irish's hat. only one man has returned. Scotty Hamilton, rotund center, wizard of the fast break and ball-handier extraordinary, doesn’t see a familiar face as he races down the boards.° RAESE IS IN NAVYWest Virginia won 22 out of 24 engagements last season, heat Long Island l\, Toledo and Western Kentucky in the national invitation shooting matches.But gone are Capt. Rudy Baric, winner of the Garden tournament’s most valuable player award, Dick Kesllng and Roger Hicks, high-scoring forwards, and Lou Kalmar, pinion of defense.Gone is Coach Richard A.
