Merryville Wins Two In Own TourneyMERRYVILLE (Spl.) - The Merryville Panthers and toe Iowa Yellow Jackets were victorious in the second day of the Merryville Doubleheader. Iowa jumped out to a 13-5 lead after the initial period, and were never hampered by a Vinton scoring spree.Iowa cruised to a 58*39 triumph over the Lions. Ken Do-mingue and Mike Thibodeaux each scored 13 points for Iowa, while Mike and Tom Pickett had 16 and 14 markers, respectively, for the Lions,Sam Meadows’ 18 points led] the way to victory for the Mer* ryviile Panthers over the Chargers from Marion, The final score was 45*41, although! the Chargers closed the nine-point deficit they ware confronted with at the half.Marion never trailed by more than five points in toe second half, but the stubborn Panther defense wouldn't relinquish the lead.
