1962 Water-SafetyAwards PresentedClimax to the water-safety classes conducted at Silver Beach this past summer came last Wednesday afternoon to* local swimmers when awards were presented at the Russell school Provincial Red Cross director of water safety, Mr W. LeBlanc, of Winnipeg, wass in Russell to make the presentations Classes were sponsored by the Kiwanis Club in conjunction with their annual boys’ and girls’ summer camp and Mrs Catchpole, of Winnipeg, was the instructress Accompanying Mr LeBlanc to the school was President Ken Munro and other members ofthe Kiwanis Club They were introduced by Principal W H Andnwrt.Awards went to the follow ing: Beginner Eleanor Burgess; junior. Bill Yakubowski, Karen Nickel, Dennis Brown, Wendy Kieper, Kathy Robinson, Shelley Simms, Jo-Anne Semochko. Clarie Loney. Janet ; Munro. Lois Bicknell, Brenda j Prokop. Lexie Smar* Linda Smellie; intermedia e. BillShipp George Shipp Josey Shipp Bob Kieper. Joy Ferguson; senior, Bate Bain stock, Ron Payne. Carol Smellie. Murray Bicknell Royal Life Saving Society, intermediate, Michelle Clement, Rae Hainsrtock Murray Bicknell; bronze medal. Susan SmellieThere were over eightyswimmers passing their test* last summer, with other large classes coming from Angus*vilk and Foxwarren Kiwanis members hdpe to visit these two points to personally present the awards while those at other points will receive1dtheir certificates by mail. fc
