ONLY ONE DRAW.Five Lively Bouts at the B. A. A.Powers Beats Sheehan, Pantz Outclasses Adams.Carr and Flanagan Get the Best of Their Men.Five* special bouts between the cream of ilie preliminary boys were served up for the members of the E. A. A. at their second sparring meeting in the. gym at their clubhouse last night. The attendance was larger than usual. Many of those present were carried away with what chicken fanciers call “wing lighters, for the boxer making the most noise and flashing around the ring carried them off their seats.Referee Peters made no mistakes, and deserved better theatment than was accorded some of his decisions.Tohnny Powers won over Johnny Shee-,.an. Eddie Carr outpointed Lem McArthur, Kid Puntz beat Frank Adams. Matty Baldwin drew with Billy Ryan, and Jack Flanagan .of Cambridge got the award over Mpsey King of New Eondon. All of the bouts were scheduled for six rounds, and In all cases they went the full distance. There was not a single knockdown the whole evening, but much science was shown, ana Johnny Mooney’s matchmaking was excellent.Power® vs-Sheehan.The first bout of the evening was between Johnny Powers, Shawmut R. C., and Johnny Sheehan, Quincy club, at ICG pounds. These lads were old-time rivals, having had many encounters when amateurs. In the opening round Powers scored repeatedly at long range, a straight loft and right cross being his combination, while Sheehan was in his element at short-arm work.Sheehan warmed to Ida w'ork in the second round and went after his man In earnest, doing effectual work In the clinches.
